Just showin' some pretty eye candy

So most of you have seen my pops guitar collection (and if anyone else wants to see I'll repost them) Here's some centerfold selections from the collection that Dad sent me. I just figured I'd share with ya'll.

'52 Tele w/ '52 Deluxe amp

'52 Les Paul (one of the first 50 off the line in '52) w/ matching '52 Les Paul GA-40 amp

Dad with a 2000 Gatton

That's some lovely looking old gear your father has there. And I thought I was lucky to have a '68 Tele.

Wow ....... that's one serious collection!
Beautiful guitars and amps, and the Chevy ain't that bad either ...

Was your Dad ever in Company B ..... ?

Kidding aside - I do hope you treasure those moments of jamming together with your father. Can't think of a nicer way to spend some quality time together.

Was that pinup girl on the tele done awhile ago or recently?

How does the Epi ES-295 compare to the Gibson?

Wow very nice stuff. I'm not a big Gibson guy, but I'd take any one of those.

The models with the trapeze bridges are so rare, must be worth a mint. More importantly, hows it sound?

I had one from 1995 to 2001 when I had to sell it due to $ problems. It was all gold. I couldn't give it away at the time. I ended up trading it for a '65 ES 345 and $1000. I sure do wish I still had it. The trapeze LPs are not very well regarded because the strings run under the tailpiece so you can't mute the strings very well. To me the weird bridge wasn't a whole lot different than getting used to a Tele bridge, what with its sides on it. Just different. Now that they're the only "affordable" '50's LPs (asking prices these days $18K-$25K) I guess they get snatched up quicker than when I was trying to sell mine.

It was a great sounding guitar. Kind of Like a giant Telecaster was how the other guitarist in the band I was in at the time described it. It was surprisingly jangly but could get mighty crunchy through my Matchless Chieftan (also gone). I usually had both pickups on and blended in the neck pickup, depending on how fat I wanted my sound. And unlike what "the experts" say, they do stay in tune quite well. Mine was perfectly intonated once I found the proper string guages.
