Gibson Les Paul Special... pics!
This guitar finally arrived. It's a cool axe, but it was an impulse buy. I am not a Gibson guy anymore, though I am enjoying playing it. Time will tell if I will keep it. I will record a couple of tracks with it and that will be the test for me.
The neck is very smooth. The Tom Anderson neck pickup is one sweet thing. As you can see, the guitar has been played! But I like that. It gives it a *natural* relic look that is not without its charms for me. I finally some decent natural light and time to shoot pics, so I made of slideshow of 27 pics. Slide Show

Refresh my memory-- how much did it set you back? You mention an Anderson in the neck slot, but the rails in the bridge are clearly a replacement. Did you misspeak or what's in the bridge?
And congrats!

Unless my memory's faulty (which it is) that's a Bill Lawrence PU in the bridge position.
Hit the F11 function key when you watch the slide show. With my computer (Windows-XP) that sends the vast majority of browsers into a full screen mode. I like the rib cut on the back of Les Paul Specials. |

You know, I had no idea about that tummy cut thing. I almost thought it wasn't a real Gibson when I first saw it! It is indeed a Bill Lawrence pickup in the bridge.

Hey if you don't like it, try putting '57 Classics in there. I guarantee, you'll love it then... or maybe even a set of P-94's.

My problem is not with the pickups as much as it is with the scale and feel of playing a Gibson again. The pups are just fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiiiiiine
