3 Gibsons, 5 Teles, assorted other guitars, about a dozen amps, about two dozen pedals, a Smith & Wesson SW40VE, & a .40 SIG Sauer P226R = too many toys, no money, carpal tunnel, and a serious hearing problem.
I used to own a 79 Pontiac Sunbird with a factory 305 V8. It was a bit of a dog, but a set of headers and a 4-barrel fixed that.
GM put out some 350 V8 Monzas in the mid 70s. I bet they were a handful. I once saw a Vega with a super-hot small block do a burnout and twist the unibody so bad that the front left tire wouldn't touch the ground.
Kugel Komponants has a kit to put a Mustang V8 in a Focus.Bolt in, no less.
That's my kind of overkill.
On the other hand, bigger is not always better. GM engineers put together a Chevette with a Buick 4L V6 that wiped up the track with stock Corvettes of the day. Needless to say, it never made production.

There were factory Sunbeam Alpine's with the Ford 289, they were called Sunbeam Tigers. In fact Carroll Shelby was behind the Sunbeam Tiger.
Of course the most famous Shelby small British car/V8 combo was the AC Cobra. The most vicious version of the Cobra was the 427 equipped model. An interesting fact about the 427's is that a lot of those cars actually came with a 428. There was a strike during the time period the 427's were built and Ford ran out of 427's and unable to build more at the time the 428 was substituted.
How about a 426 hemi in a Plymouth Arrow? That is a big engine in a small car.
