Clearly a roadie showed them both the same couple of riffs right before going on stage that night.

You've got to be kidding me - yea the song was over played like Stairway to Heaven' but the solo....I guess different strokes.

i don't think i can judge "worst..." some of them are pretty bad technically, but really fit the tune (sympathy for the devil, rockin' in the free world, anything jimmy page ever played--sorry page fans, the guy is sloppy as they come. and most of his solos are freaking awesome.)

nothing makes me cringe like stevie ray vaughan on "the sky is crying." that's the exact opposite of the kind of blues playing i like. but that's just IMHO, and that means nothing...

My vote would go with Grand Funk's "Locomotion".

Eric Clapton's solo on Crossroads... just yuck. Sloppy, boring, and a hideous tone.

Wow. There are a number of so called worst solos mentioned here that I actually like. Not going to refute anyone's choice as each to their own and whatever sinks your boat.

But... no, I'll just leave it at that.

Now that was truly unbelievable...

And I don't know why Henry Kaiser's video with Dumble playing Just Got Paid Today isn't up here yet. The classic WTH solo.

Maybe, but one thing about the solo in ILRNR, it was as easy for a 14-year-old boy to play as the rest of the song. I always wondered: The guitarist plays a LP in the video, so how did he get that vibrato thing at the beginning? Please don't tell me he did the old bending the neck trick to that gorgeous guitar!

Not entirely true, on the first four albums, they were so broke they couldn't even afford to hire studio musicians so it's Ace, Peter, Gene and Paul all the way on those albums.

Nevertheless Ace did some really bad solos too.

Detail here: the "Friday's" performance was the very last time Ace played live with Kiss before leaving the band.
Oh, you had to pick on Music From the Elder. Cheap shot!

The solo on this tune is about as imaginative and tasteful as a Stephen Hawkings lecture:

Damn, that Neal Schon thing is just excruciating. What part of the song did he think he was soloing over?

Do you have the link for that? I can't find it on YOuTube.
