UPDATE:Tele's are great but....(Apoligy)

I have found my Godin LGXT to be a way more versatile and better sounding guitar.

I am also really leaning into Les Paul territory now, thinking of picking up this real beauty, with a nice fat sound.

The quality control on my MIM was no where near what the Godin quality is. I have noticed that on a regular basis too, comparing different models, etc.

So, I sold the Tele, maybe it's just a phase, but I dont think so.

I think the Tele simplicity is awesome though. Just have some issues with the quality control, dealer service, and am looking for a different style.

Sorry guys.
Well... there're other choices than Fender if you want a Telecaster. All sorts of players rely on custom builders, and alternative brands when they want a Tele.

ok no prob, just didn't realize your manner.

No insults intended with the original post, after about 4 years of discovery, it's just my conclusions for me.

I think Tele's are cool, just not for me.

And that's a wrap.

All the best to all.

Come on, you guys, chill out! As someone who lives on the far end of the spectrum USA - Canada - France, I can assure you that we Americans love Canadians, as Canadians love us, as we love the French and they love us, and as the Canadians love the French and vice versa...deep breath...and we ALL love just as much to joke about our similarities and differences. After all, the song "Blame Canada" from the South Park Movie was nominated for an Academy Award a few years ago! Tiguidou? (Québecois pour "c'est d'accord?" which is French for "agreed?")

(in the voice of a jilted lover)

Well.... just go 'den (I tossed in the canadian accent)

Like Fuzzy sez "the wheel goes roun"... I took my strat out last night to play (sitting in) and almost immediately I thought "wow this thing sounds and plays pretty good" and by 1/3 through the night I was wanting my tele...

to quote Robert 'tele man' Frost:
"I'd like to go by climbing a birch tree,
And climb black branches up a snow-white trunk
Toward heaven, till the tree could bear no more,
But dipped its top and set me down again.
That would be good both going and coming back.
One could do worse than be a swinger of birches."

As a girl once told me "you go dance with those other girls, but you'll be back because I'm a classic and you'll always find me irresistable"

I've been playing for 20 years. Over that time I've convinced myself thet I'm a Strat player, a Les Paul player, an SG player etc, etc. Always end up coming back to the Tele' though. It's what you fancy - when you fancy it!

Godins are great

...and the LGs are definitely very versatile with LP-ish and Stratish and Teleish tones in them. I love the way the necks fit to the bodies on virtually all Godins--AIR TIGHT.

quality control and driving to different stores trying out tele's can be not only tiring but it can create one of those situations where you can;t find the "perfect combination" in the guitar that you are looking for. I suggest building your own tele spec'd out the way you like. BUt lespaus and godin are awesome as well. After all, it's just a guitar right?
If the lespaul works better for your siruation, you'd be foolish not to use it and forgo logic just to be recognized as a tele only player.
As a gigging and studio musician, I have strats, Tele's, Jazzmasters an epiphone casino, and they all have their own thing about them that I like.
I've personally never owned a lespaul simly because I've never needed one, but I have used quite a few in a studio environment. I'd love a cherry LP someday just to have one, but I don;t need one right now.....it's all about using the right tool to get the job done.

I'm glad you like your Godin. Some folks like versatile guitars. Me? I'd rather have 20. Different strokes.

At the same time you are on a Tele board and telling most of the folks here you don't like Tele's is like telling them their baby is ugly.

You like your Godin, fine. What I'm trying to understand is why some members feel the need to tell the board that they like other guitars better than telecasters. You do realize this is the Telecaster Discussion Page don't you? I don't feel the need to go over to the Les Paul Forum and tell them that I just don't care for Les Pauls, I enjoy my telecaster much more. I guess we telecaster players are just fun people to be around. Is that it?

it's cool that you "might" have found your "Holy Grail"..Congrats! And I can understand having issues with dealer service, but the Fender's "QC"? I've had my MIM Tele since '92 and I've NEVER had quality issues with it! Let's not be childish, and play, "Well my guitar is better than yours...well, my dad can beat up your dad!"
There's no need to "beat around the bush"! You don't like the Telecaster! Fine, I could deal with that...hey, whatever "floats your boat"!
