Happy Birthday Grandma

My Grandma was born 2-4-1909 she is 98 years old today!

She lives in El Reno Oklahoma where I lived from 1950-1970

She is superwoman looks about 75.

She is the best cook in the world. Also the nicest person on earth has never said 1 bad word about anyone. Ive never even heard her cuss.

When she was 88 she had to stop driving cause her eyesight got so bad. She was working 3 jobs then!

When she was 95 she was getting in my Aunts car and a bus came around the corner hit the bumper and made my aunts car swing around and knocked my Grandma and aunt over which broke my Grandmas hip. She had a total hip replacement and walked out of the hospital 2 days later! She doesnt even limp! Told ya she is Superwoman.

She has outlived my Mom and 2 husbands one of them named Orville who could play mandolin guitar fiddle piano anything. She had a piano and when I was about 5-6 years old I started playing it and could play just about any song by ear. NO chords just the melody. Davy Crockett was my favorite and I could play it perfect. I could actually play any melody I heard.

My Grandma has never drank or smoked. Fern Clark is her name.

She is directly related to Simon Kenton who was Daniel Boones partner way back in the early days of the USA. Simon Kenton lived to be 82 years old way back then when if you made it to 40-50 you were lucky.

She just went to the Dr for a checkup and he said she was just fine and could easily live another 10 years.

I love my Grandma more than anything or anyone on earth.

Happy Birthday Grandma.

There's a GREAT book that details Kenton's life....it's not a novel, but a historical narrative as it's entirely based on letters, diaries, published accounts etc...

I have a 1st edition of that book. My Mom traced our family history way back to like 1225 on my dads side of the family and back to the early days of America. My Grandmas Mom was Rebecca Kenton.

Thats so cool you knew about that book pal thanks so much.

In gonna print out this thread when its done and send it to my Aunt so she can read it to my Grandma.

What a wonderful role model!

Happy Birthday Mrs. Clark!

I sure would have loved to have Orville for a grandpa. My Granddad played piano, and loved music, so I think that's where I got it from.
