RIP Buddy Holly

48 years today.

Died at age 22, and only made records for about 18 months.

Heres Waylon Jennings, Buddy, and Tommy Allpsup, on the last tour. Dig the ascot!

Yeah, I was reading on web sites this morning where someone claims there was a bullet hole in the back of the pilot seat also, claimed by someone that was at the sight, on that crummy morning. Apparently the wreckage is still in the plane owners building and he won't let anyone see it to prove fact or fiction. Though on another site, they figured the pilot thougt he was going up, when he was actually going down, due to new guages that were installed in the plane.. No matter how or why, it can't be undone..

Buddy Holly was huge.. And all in only 18 months, WOW ! Thanks for the clips WickedGTR..

I'm still digging you Buddy...Thanks for the tunes..RIP

I always felt a connection to Buddy, cause my family came from Clear Lake. We would travel there every summer.
Thanks WickedGTR for posting the videos.
RIP Buddy.

Buddy Holly's my favorite. Imagine writing songs like that and being such a completely unique musical pioneer at such a young age. To me, he started it all. You can hear the seeds of The Beatles in what he did and you just know that had he lived he'd have made a masterpiece album or two. Just listen to 'Well Alright' - Where did that come from? That's songwriting of the future, still.

RIP Buddy Holly. Everyone here, no matter what sort of music they like, owes you a debt of gratitude and respect.

Should've went to Lubbock when I was in Texas last summer. I'd like to play a couple of Buddy Holly songs if I get to go to the next Garland, TX Jam.

I read an interview with Joe Ely, who grew up in Lubbock, and he said that at the time of Buddy's death most people in Lubbock didn't even know he was from there. I guess he came and went too quickly to develope the cult of celebrity that surrounds pop stars.

Rest in peace, Buddy. You were the best.

I wish I could have heard what he would have done next. In the meantime, I feel blessed every time I hear what he left us.

I tip my hat to him every 2/4, and play his stuff frequently. One college summer I had to spend a little time in Iowa, and made sure my free time included a trip to Clear Lake. RIP.
