My verdict on Coca Cola zero...
Okay I admit to being a Coke drinker, the red bottle is always hitting the right spot with me. But I also admit that don't like the other kinds of Cola that the CC company brings out.
I hated the "New coke" from the eighties, it had a nasty artificial after taste. I hated "Cherry coke" it tasted too bitter for my liking I hated "Vanilla coke" way too sweet But the worst one of all would be "Diet Coke" I can't believe that such crap is even selling. Diet Coke has the same kind of nasty after taste that I hated about new coke. But way worse. So today when I was refueling at a gas station I first encountered the Black bottle. ![]() My first reaction was "Great another coke that I'm bound to hate." But because you can't judge a book on it's cover, I bought one just for trying. Why Coca Cola insists on adding that Hideous synthetic after taste that makes me hate Diet Coce so much is beyond me but there it was again, not quite as strong as Diet Coke but it was there none the less. So I'm sorry for Coca Cola but I'll stick with the more familiar red bottles. And to quote their own slogan. "You can't beat the real thing."

It's not only drinks. I was looking for some Uncle Ben's sweet & sour sauce early in the week and I could only find the 'light' variety, so I bought it, thinking it would be okay.
It tasted pretty bland when actually eating the meal, but the horrific aftertaste it left in my mouth all day was unbearable! So it's a product of 'diet' or 'calorie reduced' versions of regular stuff. How anyone can handle eating or drinking with this stuff on a regular basis is beyond me. All the 'low fat' versions are a con anyway. manufacturers offering stuff that has ZERO FAT! GO AHEAD! what they don't tell you is that there's more than enough crap in there to make up for the fat. Not to mention the fact that they have zero taste anyway. |

I've been off of carbonated beverages since late September, and I don't really miss them. Cold water, tea (hot or iced), coffee, milk keep me satisfied.

I tried that Coke Zero once, at first when I took a drink of it, it tasted like the 'real' thing, but than that after taste came in and well.... I was done with that stuff.
The only pop I like is Coke... Everything else is just.... well you know. |

So they sell Diet Coke and Coke Zero? Is there a difference? I have to watch my calories but I love soda. So I've started drinking diet Coke. I certainly don't like it as much, but in a pinch, its better than not. I'm getting used to it just like I'm getting used to black coffee. Of course I'm probably slowly pickling myself and setting myself up for some sort of cancer in my old age...

I enjoy a little Coke with lime once in a while. I don't ever drink sodas with meals and never on a daily basis. I also stay away from anything with high fructose corn syrup or artificial sweeteners.
I take one of these Honest Teas to work with me everyday to have with lunch.. there's really good and have a little fruit and real sugar for a slight sweetness but not too much. They have unsweetened varieties too. http://honesttea.com/page.php?id=1 |

i drank the no-calorie sprite once, to me tasted better than the real thing... I only drank it once though. There's just something about the normal stuff with a hint of lemon.

Contrary to what this thread might suggest, I am not the kind of guy who gulps down a complete bottle within minutes, I actually can do a long time with one bottle, usually a couple of days.
Same with the small bottles and the cans, My best friend Ramon (Who is immortalised in my "Growing pains" Comic) is the kind of guy who chugs down cans within two minutes and is surprised that I can do half an hour with only one can. ![]() Ramon (on the left) and yours truly in "growing pains" being not the type of guys that the leading lady was after in this scene.

Coke Zero
I'm not too much on Coke or any soft drink, unless it's well diluted with some good bourbon.
My youngest son is 14 and he has Diabetes, so when he does drink a soft drink now and then it has to be diet, I tried a Coke Zero, tasted terrible to me, just like every diet drink I've ever tasted. |

I used to hate the taste of diet soda too. Then I went on a diet and started drinking it. Everything tasted awful, so adding one more low fat/low calorie item to the list of awful-tasting food didn't seem to be a big deal.
Now regular soda is too sweet to me. I can't handle it. It's like drinking a slice of cake or something. Coke zero or diet coke are much more likely to be in my fridge, though I don't drink either one very much.

If I'm going to drink any 'soda-pop' type drink, it will be Coke Classic (Red label). However, I wish I could hop back in time & get the Cokethat was in the small greenish 7 ounce bottles with the raised lettering..... that was THE REAL THING.

Since sugar isn't a good idea for me I drink Diet Coke. I'm used to the taste and actually prefer it over other diet beverages. I prefer it to Coke Zero but I'll drink Zero if that's all they have. If it wasn't for my health I'd prefer to drink juices and regular soft drinks but they're not really an option.

I'm a huge Diet Coke drinker and have been for 20 years. To me, Coca Cola zero tastes very similar to Coca Cola Light, which is the equivalent to Diet Coke I've had in Germany on many occasions. It's a little sweeter than Diet Coke with less bite. The same applies to Coca Cola zero, when compared with Diet Coke. As to any of these low cal/no cal sodas being bad or good for you, the jury's still out. At least I have been able to stay thin, in part thanks to them. Also, I can't stand the taste of regular Coke anymore, it's like drinking maple syrup!

http://www.nutrasweet.com/articles/c...h&lev2=General Personally, I avoid the stuff. I have read too many horror stories on the web of what that stuff can do to you. If I drink a soda (which is rare) I will drink Coca Cola Classic, C-Plus or Orange Crush. As for alcohol, my motto is if you have to mix it with soda to make it taste good, you shouldn't be drinking it in the first place.

I love Coke, but I rarely drink it anymore. I battle my weight enough without soda. I do have an occaisional one if I've had a few too many adult beverages. I also like an occaisional one with a bit of bourbon in it.
I don't have a problem with aspertame, I just think it tastes like ***.

I drink COFFEE.
And I don't give a frikkin' hoot if it's 100 Degrees. I'm usually good for 6 cups a day. And all my "health-nut" friends are workin' out at The Cemetary.... Think I'll go make a grilled cheese and bacon sandwhich, it's almost time for bed. Eat and drink whatever Ya want because regardless of what ya try you're gonna die. Coffee has no "aftertaste" 'cept the donut. Ya ever notice that all the people that drink that diet crap weigh like 600 pounds?????? Have a slice of bacon for cripesake and live a little. Diets...my diet is whatever I the heck I goshdarn want. Life becomes worthless when one becomes obsessed with prolonging it - think about it.

Part of the new name was the result of market research. Diet Coke was not attracting buyers in their teens and early 20s. Market research showed that consumers of that age do not react well to the word "diet." So they used the new name. Jim |

Does Zero have aspartame or Splenda?
Splenda is just an over size sugar molecule that cant pass thru the intestine... Zero is Coca Cola's response to Pepsi's One that was closer to Coke than Diet Coke.. I luv Zero....but only drink 3 sodas per week |
