The New Nashville Star & Jewel
Just saw another advertisement for the new Nashville Star season (country version of American Idol) and I realized that there is one thing I really like about this show: They let the performers play their instruments. It brings a whole different dynamic to the performances.
And I realized that there's one thing I really like about Jewel: even though she finally let them pressure her into becoming a waifish little pixie, she has steadfastly refused to let anyone fix her teeth. Those things make it look like she was trying to open cans of beans with her mouth when she was poor and trying to make it. Despite all of her riches she has decided that the same painful smile is good enough.
