Playing for Country dancers...
I play in classic Country band and we're getting more and more dancers at our shows. As a result, we are trying to become more "dance friendly," which means we need to mix up our set list, which is pretty heavy on mid-tempo shuffles. Last night some one wanted a Cha Cha--so we played some Marty Robbins with a kind of Mariachi beat, and they seemed satisfied, but honestly, I don't know much about what steps go with which tunes.
So, for those of you who play for dancers, what would be perfect mix for say a 15 song set? How many waltzes, two steps, swings, etc...? Any example of actual tunes would be a great help. |
