iPod question

I finally got one. Loaded all my songs from the PC, its cool! My question is re organization, for example, I have 24 Allman Bros sonmgs in iTunes, all labaled ar Southern Rock genre. But when I load to iPod, and later sort by artist to play, there are 3 Allman Bros listings, with 1 song in one, a few in the second, and most in the 3rd. How can I get them all in one Allman Bros listing, so I can do a Shuffle of them that will include all 24? This has also happened with songs from other atrists. All looks cool on iTunes, but with multiple artist listings on the iPod. Thanks.

That sounds like your Artist Name is slighly different. Maybe a space after (or before) the name? Or sometimes if your album has a "guest" included in the artist name.

Select the tracks you want together, then press right click and select Get Info

Then amend options as necessary. Probably need to uncheck Part of Compilation as well

Ditto. The compilation tag can be helpful at times but frustrating at others. When you're loading cd's into iTunes it doesn't tell you that it thinks the album is a compilation. If it flags it as a compilation then the tracks won't show up in some of the Sort by lists on your ipod. And for some reason it thinks a lot of albums by single artists are compliations. I've learned to check uploaded tracks for the compliation tag before I move them over to my iPod.

I always do this as well. Even with genuine compilation albums, I uncheck the box. I then change the artist names to 'Various Artists'. This then places all genuine compilations under one main windows folder, rather than multiple folders with different versions of artist names.

You could also create a playlist in I-tunes and put all your Allman Brothers stuff in there. It'll only play them in the order you list them though.

Smart Playlists are fun too. You can make a Smart Playlist with genre "Southern Rock" as the key term, and everytime you add a song to the iPod with a Souther Rock genre it automatically adds it to the playlist. I have them set up for all genres on my iPod in case I feel like listening to only Rockabilly or only Country while at the gym.
