A Fantastic Guitarist!

Louie may not be a household name to many, but he's played on many records that a lot of us know. An incredible guitarist!

Yup, and I'm sure many here know that it was he who played that riff on The Monkees 'Last Train To Clarkesville', along with many other Monkees classics, most likely on that very Tele.

Yes, I consider Louie Shelton the success behind Seals & Croft. Others that he's played for include Gladys Knight, Marvin Gaye, Simon & Garfunkel, Mamas & Pappas, Neil Diamond, & Boz Skaggs.

Here's the albums by Louie (his stuff) in my collection:
GUITAR
URBAN CULTURE
HOT & SPICY

I like his work with Boz Scaggs... He has a cool mellow Jazz sound I like heres his Lacey signature guitar
I think Heather likes him because he worked on some Partridge Family Recordings

+1. Makes perfect sense (at least to me). Will check him out though.

He also played on Seals and Croft's "Diamond Girl." So tasty! Larry Carlton once said that he wished that he had the taste/economy of Louie, and that he was known as Sweet Louie Shelton because of his tone.
BTW,I thought Last Train to Clarksville was played by Jerry MgGhee, who wrote the lick.

If I remember right Louie played "Last Train To Clarksville" on
a big Gibson Jazz Box, either an L-5 or a Super 400.

He also played loads of tasty Tele/Twin-type licks on The Partridge Family records, believe it or not. Especially on "Up To Date", probably their best record. With co-guitarist Dennis Budimir and other Wrecking Crew members (Joe Osborn, Hal Blaine, etc.), Louie laid down some really tasty parts on those and many other great records.
