I'm really going to have to learn this BCS

Ohio State is ranked #1 in the BCS final poll.

It's a silly system anyway. They really need to come up with some playoffs. Florida's the National Champion, that's all that really matters. I wouldn't worry too much about Troy Smith's mom, unless she's behind the Ohio State offensive line.

I don't think

....they post a "final" BCS poll after the games. However, because Florida won the BCS title game, they are the BCS Champion, and they also finished #1 in the AP poll and #1 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

We REALLY need a playoff...

I used to want a playoff, now I don't. I've been a USC fan since my cousin played for the 72 undefeated champs (he went on to play in NFL for about 10 years). I like to think of the regular season as the playoffs. The fact that there is no playoff makes the regular season games much more meanigful. In college hoops, a team can lose a bunch in the regular season, finish in the middle of the pack in their conference, get a weak middle seed, and still have a shot. While this is OK for many reasons, it means as a fan I don't have to care until March madness! With football, each and every game is literally for all the marbles. If you check today, you'll see the pollsters have Ohio state at 2! WTF? Florida spanked em hard! 83 total yards on offense? I think Boise State should have got the number 2, USC #3, LSU #4, Ohio St #5.

.....and here's why I disagree.

OK, the regular season is very important in college football, I acknowledge that. 9 times out of 10, it's TOO important! If the regular season is the playoffs, and you lose your first game of the season on the road at some tough venue (USC, Tennessee, LSU, Ohio St, etc), what? do you just cancel the other 10-11 games of the season? What's the point in playing? No way (or at least if other major programs go undefeated) you can win the title, and isn't that why you're playing??

That's crap in my opinion.

PLAYOFF is used in EVERY other sport at every other level--they need to figure it out and make it happen.

Why play? The college game is still for glory and pride! Let the pros have their "tournament". I think we'll see a playoff as it appears that's what most want. When the current deal expires it'll probably happen. But yes, lose that opener on the road to Tenn (insert Cal) and you wont win the national title but you still have a shot at conference and Rose Bowl (still worth playing for)

The thing that best supports your argument is Boise State! I'd like to see them play Florida

I'm a Gator fan and very happy they won, but I'd still like to see a playoff system. Maybe using the top 10 ranked teams.
