Best Album... OF ALL TIME

Ok, Another "best" topic but seriosly, if you had to name ONE album as the best of all time what would it be?

Don't give a list please, everyone just gets one.

Mine is.........

Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band-The Beatles

If an album ever infiltrated my brain it was:

Fairport Convention - Liege & Lief

On any given day, my answer will be different. Most of those already mentioned would qualify. For some reason, at this moment, I feel like saying Jeff Beck's "Truth". Not everyone's cup of tea, for sure, but I never tire of it.

I was gonna say "White Album" but you could be right Mark! For sure in my top ten. Even my kids love that one proving it crosses the age gap!

I also have to nominate "Who's Next" or "Tommy".

I'll go with "Dark Side of the Moon".

Some interesting factoids:

It spent a record total of 741 consecutive weeks (over 14 years) on the Billboard 200 chart.

On the week of May 5, 2006, it achieved a combined total of 1500 weeks on the Billboard 200 and Pop Catalog charts.

It is estimated that one in every 14 people in the U.S. under the age of 50 owns or owned a copy of this album

It has sold 7.7 million copies since 1991 in the U.S. alone and continues to log 9600 sales per week domestically.

Also, I came across this recently which is pretty funny:

When the album is played simultaneously with the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz, numerous images from the film appear to uncannily synchronize with the music and lyrics. Band members firmly state the phenomenon, dubbed "Dark Side of the Rainbow" by fans, is a coincidence.

David

I'll still cheat a little and also put in a vote for "Are You Experienced?"

Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, The Wild The Innocent And The E Street Shuffle Has to be my all time favorite album.
I think it was Springsteens most creative guitar work. And Dave Sancious' piano playing and jazzy influence has been sorely missed since he left the band.
My tastes run all over the place. But if I could only take one album to a deserted island, this would be it.

Or Alice Cooper's "Love it to Death".

Or Skynyrd's "Second Helping"
