Duo-Sonic RI, any info?

I just picked up this Fender Duo-Sonic RI, at a local pawn shop. I really dont know anything about them. It sounded cool and it was 150.00 bucks, so i figured what the heck I was just wondering if anyone new anything about them, maybe what kind of pickups are in it, did i pay to much for it,etc.

Its is NOT taking the place of my 72 tele custom RI

here is a picture of it with my Squier cyclone, the Duo-Sonic isnt going to remain black for to long

i guess you repainted your squier cyclone...? aren't those only available in black and a dark blue color? i've been tempted to buy one of them to play around with.....cool little guitars.

i think you got a pretty decent deal on the duo-sonic... you could go search fleabay and get an idea of what people are paying for them.

Looks like the one I bought for my son, when he was about 10 or so.

3/4 scale, Made in Mexico, really nice pickups on it. I think they were discontinued by the mid '90s.

Jazz Guitarist Skip Heller uses a Suo Sonic as his main guitar. He says it's a truly underated guitar.

Takes me back!

Ah, yes! My first electric - an early sixties Duosonic in Fiesta Red. The knobs were tele style "chrome domes." Plugged it into my '66 Gibson GA-50 RVT amp via an Allied "Super-Fuzz" and wailed away on my favorite Hendrix riffs!!

It looks like a 90's MIM Duo Sonic. Their a pretty good little guitar, I wanna say like $299 list. Poplar body, Maple neck ,two strat pickups (Korean made on those). I dont remember the scale length.
I believe that in the sixties you could get it in Either a 22 1/2 in scale or a 24" scale. Either that or it changed mid year. I had a teacher at my store who had one she bought used in the 70's. 22 1/2 scale with the narrowest fingerboard ever made on a Fender. It was slightly over an inch and a half at the nut! Truly it was the most unplayable Fender I have ever had in my hands.....

I recon the Duos are pretty sweet.Believe it or not i don't mind that bridge,i rate it above the horrible mustang bridge and trem.

Cyclone looks sweet in sonic blue, much better than the stock colours. If i had of kept mine i would have repainted it, i hated the black.

I really love the mustang/duo/bronco etc body shape.
Check out my custom
