In all honesty Heather, you make some very good points. I really don't mind the "menace" as much as I do the Gibsonstein, and I only really dislike the Gibsonstein because it's yet another attempt by a guitar company to market a "unique" insturment by the thousands - and charge a premium for what (based on my experience) I expect to be a substandard quality insturment.

Furthermore Heather, I think that black menace would actually suit you very well.

I suppose I'm one that doesn't get this one. Wasn't the goth fad like...15 years ago?? Is the fist a present day symbol of hipness?? That concerns me.....

For those interested in purchasing one of these, I would recommend waiting a few weeks for the $99 Overstock.com blowout.

Hey folks,

I dig Heather Anne Peel's comments about the Gibson guitars. Here's mine of course:

My '96 Les Paul Custom. I guess I'm a sort of traditionalist when it comes to Gibson guitars. If the guitar sounds good and plays well, the looks thing is secondary for me.

My '95 Hamer Studio. Just to be on the other side of the coin, I find the Hamer USA guitars to be of better quality, construction & workmanship for a much lower price.

I think the whole goth thing is as healthy as ever, it's just transcended genre and become a pervasive attitude. I'm not a fan of death worship, and having survived years of clinical depression I think it's about as hip as good grades and proper grammar.

As far as the guitar goes. They'll make some money selling at this price, and then they'll clean up with the $199 Musician's Friend blowout. I won't be buying one, but I have a feeling that Gibson found no surprises in the marketing of this thing.

Some things are worth repeating! And that, my friend, is a Gibson guitar The Black Beauty is the original "Evil Menace" often imitated but never duplicated. Hamer95USA - That's a beauty!
