The next two weeks in Frankfurt, Germany
I start a work trip tomorrow and will be in Frankfurt (the Golden Tulip Offenbach to be more specific) from the 9th until the 19th. Expedia, Lonely Planet and other websites give info on the "normal" tourist things to so. Can anyone help out with some musical tourism?
I have found listings for a few clubs with live music, including some acts I'd like to see but that aren't playing while I'll be there (isn't that usually the case). I'm looking for stuff to do in the evenings as I'll be working during the day (duh!) and will likely do the more typical tourist things on the weekends (thinking one day in Frankfurt and taking the train to Heidelburg for the other day). I'm not planning on renting a car. PS: Restaurant recomendations appreciated as well. Thanks much!

Just bumping 'cause this got pushed down to page 2 by a ton of other posts in about 90 minutes time.
Thanks.

telel6s, I'm afraid I don't know the Frankfurt music scene very well because I live about 3 to 4 hours to the east. But judging from your going to Heidelberg I could recommend a few other places to take the train to that are about the same distance. Wuerzburg, a nice Bavarian city with a different feel from Frankfurt, has important Tiepolo frescoes at the palace (maybe you don't care about art). Fulda is also not too far away, this is fairy tale land, like Grimm stories...
Maybe eddie knows Frankfurt - calling eddiewagner! Where you at?

I was last in that area around 10 years ago, and did a stop over in Heidelberg before I flew home. The train stops in the street - really quaint.
Although Heilelberg is a real tourist trap, I loved it. Lots of beer cellars, and off the main street some beautiful restaurants. can't remember any names though. |
