Show it all of..Slide Edition

I bought another guitar today ofcourse. An old 12-string acoustic landola that was pretty beaten up and messy, it's not possible to play regularly on it but it was PERFECT for slide.

So since we have had millions of "show your gear of" I would like to change it into.. Show all your Slide gear of!

So show it of brothers and sis.

I was going to buy a tricone resonator guitar last year, but I eventually figued that it wouldn't get much use, and I couldn't afford a National anyhow. So it never happened.

I don't have any guitars dedicated to slide use, but I have a few slides sitting around.

Is that slide one of the thick balanced slides?

No. I didn't know there was such a thing.

From left to right, they are
  • Brass Dunlop Slide
  • Sears 11/16" socket wrench
  • An old steel Slide that I can't remember buying
  • Coriciden bottle clone by Dunlop
  • Straight glass Slide, Dunlop

I'm planning to try a Dunlop steel slide that matches the dimensions of that old one in the center when I order some new strings.

"New" used dobro, and GFI pedal steel. The steel is a "work in progress". Takes some time to get halfway decent on it.

Tuning-Dobro-G, Steel-E9th.

Do you play the Dobro like a guitar, or flat like the Dobro pickers normally do?

I try playing electric guitars flat like a Dobro sometimes, just to see if I could adopt to something like a lapsteel, and I find it extremely difficult.

I'd love to be able to play a lapsteel. Guys like David Lindley do some frightening things on lapsteels.

There's this one recent youtube vid with Redd Volkaert, where Cindy Cashdollar plays some amazing lapsteel, instead of her usual amazing Steel playing.

Her playing blows me away because I have no idea how this kind of thing is done. Here's she plays Steel

Redd and his band.... that's some great stuff!
