Coxon is cool, Greenwood's the greatest (IMHO)

When it comes to contemporary British rock, Blur and Radiohead are probably my two favorites. Radioheads Tele-genious Johnny Greenwood is my favorite guy out there playing modern rock guitar. Too bad creativity like that isn't more widely recognized...

I can't recall even being so blown away at a musical approach on guitar as I was the first time I heard paranoid android. I am pretty much a country player, have dabbled in experimental rock and indie style stuff at times, but johnny is the man no doubt about it, he manages to play in a maximum minimal sense (i know that proably doesnt make sense but it does to me) that allows me to stay interested at all times.

Radiohead is an all around wonderful band. As big as they are, they're still underrated.

I love Radiohead, but it's been said that these days Greenwood could be one song off from the rest of the band on the setlist and it might be six tunes before you could be sure.

Greenwood is the greatest, though I think an honourable mention should goto Ed O'brien...he has come up with some cool bits to things that I had assumed were Jonny's doing ( the outro to Karma police being one that comes to mind).

I am big into British music also. I love Blur and Radiohead. My wife is a huge Radiohead and Thom Yorke fan. She has convinced me that the best guitarist in Radiohead is Thom Yorke not Greenwood. I know that is probably not the popular opinion, but watch them in a live setting and its Thom Yorke who is carrying the weight, even while singing (screeching?). Don't get me wrong, Greenwood is terrific and get some amazing sounds out of his guitars. It's really clear if you ever see Yorke do something like Paranoid Android solo. But is all good because Yorke plays a Tele Deluxe.
