Cigar box guitars

A friend sent me this link and I thought some of you folks might like this. Apparently this guy builds these guitars. If this is them on the recordings they sound pretty good.

A pal of mine is one of the leading lights in the Cigar Box guitar revolution. Leading light, heck. He's the self-proclaimed King of the Cigar Box Guitar.
Check it out: http://www.cigarboxguitars.com/features/Shane_Speal.php
Here's another link: http://www.geocities.com/cigarboxguitar/macanudo.html

Includes instructions for making your own. Also look around the site for his mailbox dobro. Way cool.

I'm a Lowebow fan myself.

More of a diddley bow man myself, Mostly cause it's the only thing I can make (and can't play of course). Once made a 10 foot diddley bow in fact, electrified it and it sounded HORRIBLE!

John's Lowebows sound fabulous in part due to the custom made pickups.

If I put one together, it'd have to have frets!
