Jake Shimabukuro's arrangement of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" has quickly become the "Stairway to Heaven" of the ukulele. Uke players cringe when you hit those opening notes!
And yet I love it, and his newest CD, "Gently Weeps" which is mostly solo uke, is tremendous. The guy is a major talent and by all accounts a heck of a nice person too.

Jake is Great!
He played in town a while back and I posted about it.
What I didn't post was that he had technical problems with the pickup in his uke and took it to our local repair shop. After he picked it up, and was happy with the repair, he brought the guys in the shop cookies. I thought that was a pretty cool story. He seems like a really nice, really genuine guy with an almost unbelievable amount of talent. I hadn't seen that first clip, thanks a lot for posting it. Cassady |
