The great Ruth Brown, born in Virginia in 1928, passed away today at 5:14 Pacific Standard Time at St. Rose Dominican Hospital in Henderson, Nevada of complications following a stroke and a heart attack. She leaves two sons, Lonnie McFadden and Earl Swanson. She is also survived by a sister, Delia Weston, and three brothers: Alvin, Leonard and Benjamin Weston.

She will be missed. Ruth was one of the few who could give Wanda Jackson a run for her money. Her guest appearance with Guitar Johnny and the Rhythm Rockers on "As Long as I'm Moving" remains one of my all-time favorite moments.
