Let's see...
  • "Mama" (usually pronounced "Mom-uhh"; I would never use "mama" in such a context...just too...*shiver*...Electra complex. Unless, of course, I was covering "Mama Tried" or the like, where I was actually singing about a mother. That whole "mama" and "daddy" as a substitute word for a sexual partner in a rock or country song...No way, no how. I don't want to sing about "Mama, rock me all night long" or "Sweet little thang, come rock your daddy." *runs to wash hands thoroughly*)
  • "C'mon" (usually pronounced "Cuh-mowwn")
  • "UH!" (or variations, such as "UNH!" "UNGH!" "HUHHNN!")
  • The abjectly trite rhyming of "heart/part" in lyrics, e.g. "Baby, baby, doncha break my heart; Please say you love me and we'll never part" *retch*
  • The abjectly trite rhyming of "dance/chance/romance" in lyrics, e.g. "You say you wanna dance...I think I'll take a chance...Ooh, baby, maybe it's time for romance" *dry heave*
  • "Do it all night long"
  • "Wanna lay you down"
  • "Rock me, baby"
  • "Until the end of time"
Trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite, trite.

Did I mention that these phrases/lyrics were trite?

Regarding "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah"... I saw McCartney in LA earleir this year, and he said when he and George played that song for Paul's parents after they wrote it, McCartney's dad said "There's too much Americanism going around lately. You should change the lyrics to She Love's you Yes yes yes!" How funny!

"Black hat bone"

I think that one is actually "black cat bone," from hoodoo, meaning literally a bone from a black cat, which you put in a mojo to bring back your woman or man.

Point taken Stevie. You can imagine the scenario.

Key turns in lock. A dopey looking girl walks in and embraces a clearly nervous bloke.

Bloke: " Darling you're home ! You're back here with me ! "( Loving cuddle...minor fumbling.)
Dopey Girl: " Yes ! Strangely, I felt compelled by forces beyond my control to return home and completely forgive your constant philandering, drinking sprees, household gunplay and spendthrift Telecaster collecting. Against all commen sense and much advice from my lawyers, everything seems oddly wonderful ! "
Bloke: " So it worked then....thank goodness for the public library system and dear old black magic ! "
Dopey Girl : " Er....what do you mean ? What's that smelly bag thing on the chair ? And why is little Smokies basket empty ? " ( Draws away from him and narrows eyes.)
Bloke: " It's a long story sweetheart and frankly I think you should sit down for it. Ooops...I'll just move the mojo to over here....."

Cheers
Chick
