Supro guitars

Any models to recommend? I feel like sourcing for one but the supro website doesn't really show their guitars.

Do you mean the recent reproductions or the original Supro guitars?

Now they make the Duotone and the Ozark model. I emailed them before and they said that they have some custom guitar company make the guitars for them (forgot which one). And they are something like $1000-2000 (again forgot, but noted as way too expensive).

Supro, National, Airline, Valco and a few other names graced the headstocks of the originals guitars. The pickups look like humbuckers but they are single coils.

"My Rare Guitars" sells the Supro Coronado repro... sort of a les paulish look...

They also offer the Airline (Supro)

I have the National Valpro 84, Westwood 88, and a Newport 88 map shaped guitars.

I love mine...had it for over 15 years. Had to pony up TOP dollar for it because I fell in love, and it was at a fancy schmancy NYC guitar shop.
I think I traded a beat up MIJ Squier Strat (about $160 new) and $75.
I doubt I'd pay today's prices.
It's not exactly a player's guitar, but it has real unique vibe for slide and a few swampy blues tunes.
Pickups are killer.
The very odd issue with these is that it seems that there are only 2 screws holding the neck on, and they're in line with the neck.
Actually...it gets worse.
Closer inspection reveals that one of those screws is a tilt adjust, and the neck is held on with ONE SCREW.
I modded mine to use the adjusting screw to hold the neck on, and you'd only notice if you know these guitars well, AND took it apart, but it's still only 2 screws.
Small "vintage" frets and Louisville Slugger neck.
Not everybody's cup o' tea.
BUT.............when I tune mine to an open "E", plug it into my tweed deluxe, and play the opening riff to "Dust my Broom", every guitar player in the room gets whiplash turning his head to see what's making that SOUND!

If its US$1000+ , it should be about $2000+ singapore dollars.

Hmm these guitars look very small in the picture , are they? And they don't look like they can handle rock. Am i wrong?

I couldn't tell you, cause I've never played one, but Link Wray was the tuffest rock & roller out there and he played one.

Oh and there is probably a difference between the old ones and the new re-issues.

Hey I'm in Singapore too and I actually found a Supro hanging on the wall of some weird guitar shop (Wakemeup music at Queensway) and it was originally labelled "Vintage guitar - not for sale".

It's a very early Supro Ozark, the kind with one neck pickup and usually covered with mother-of-toilet-seat (like the one in the Howling Wolf picture when he was really young), but this one is a really beat-up natural finish. No one really knew if it worked, but I figured I'd take a chance on it.

So I asked the owner of the store, and walked home with it after parting with some money. Those things pop up on Ebay from time to time and from the looks of it, they seem to be less expensive than the repros. HUUUUGE neck (almost squarish) that actually plays a bit easier than expected for a 50+ yr old guitar though it's definitely not for easy soloing, but it's got monster tone for slide.

It did take a bit of work to get up and running, but that comes with the whole "old cheapo guitar" experience.
