I was pretty cautious of giving away my age, especially here and at the FDP, for fear of the lack of respect that often comes with youth.

BUt now I'm 23, I raise 2 kids with my wife, work full time, and actually record professionally, so there. I rock a silverface twin, and a 69 Jaguar, and I'm in the middle of a refinish project. Call me a whipper snapper, i dare ya.

that said, TDPRI is the kindest forum i visit.

Age is not important, unless you are a cheese !
I don't remember if I put my age in my profile.
I do remember Chuck Berry and James Brown on the TAMI show and the Beatles on Ed Sullivan, but I was too young to get in the Vulcan Gas Co. to see Johnny Winter.
I did see Chuck Berry play at a frat house !
I must be the same age as the Gibson Les Paul.

That would have been me, and actually my darn right knee is causing me much age-related angst after playing three gigs this weekend (one Friday night, two on Saturday). Physically, I'm absolutely middle-aged feeling older right now.

I'm EMOTIONALLY 17 though....

Cheers, Tim

ps- Aen, you whippersnapper!

I hear ya Tim. By the end of the Saturday night gig I'm usually hobbling around like Festus.....

should be there now...

about the influence thing, I never listened to top 40 music much, more often than not, if we had a school trip or event, everyone was supposed to bring records or cassette tapes EXCEPT me: "you only bring that stupid hideous stuff anyway" - the "hideous stupid stuff" being Zappa, "old" blues, Love Sculpture, Blue Cheer, Hendrix, Woodstock, Bonzo Dog Band...

I'm probably one of the oldest here.............

as I'll be turning 67 on January 21st of '07. Now that's old! But what the hell, I'm still out there pickin' every weekend and a night or two during the week when called. I've always been lucky in the fact that I don't look my age but I do feel it at times. I've had a 5-way bypass (in Apr. of 2000) but a week later I was in Ocean City, Maryland playing a weekend oldies festival with an Elvis impersonator. I love all types of music but lately for the live gigs it's been mostly classic country. I'll keep on playing even if I have to be rolled into the gig on a wheelchair. I still love Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker, Hank Jr. and all those boys but my favorite of all time would have to be Buck Owens..............JH in Va.

My former bass teacher played behind Chuck Berry. But not rhythm guitar. Chuck told him "This song has three notes."

I play in a few bands. One is me, a 57 year old man, and a 54 year old woman. Another has an age range of about 35 years between players, with me in the middle. Another is all within five years.

I play folk, rock, jazz, country, and the music I listened to as a teenager influenced me. However, that music had very little to do with what was popular at the time...

I discovered Chet Atkins at the ripe old age of 18, and became quickly enamored. Part of my goal as a music teacher is to expose kids to a wide range of styles and break down the age barriers for them. You'd be surprised how many teenagers are Elvis Presley fans.

In Certain Parts of Philly

on certain streets near certain corners people actually yell my age:

"FIVE-OH! FIVE-OH!"

(When the cops are comin'....heee heee!)

Turned 50 a couple weeks ago. (Mentally somewhere between 17 and 50...)

Brian
