Ignorant Ignorant people.

As I was leaving my building yesterday to go to the store, I hear a guy on the 3rd floor balcony talking to someone on his cell-phone say "Yeah..I hate electric guitar..I mean c'mon..anyone can play one"

At first, I wanted to go up and knock his block off. Then, I wanted to just talk with him, find out why he would think such a thing and show him some footage of Rory Gallagher, or Eric Clapton.

Finally I was just happy thinking "Whew...I'm smarter than one more person", and decided to let him continue to live in his ignorance. And I'm sure even if I had shown him some awesome clips, he still would've thought what he thought. Oh well.

Can't preach to the deaf.

Whadda ultra-maroon!

More accurate to say, "Yeah, I hate cell phones...I mean c'mon...shut up already!"

I have a saying for people who have brought this to my attention from time to time. It changes a little every time I say it but it comes out sounding something like this;

"There are people who can play guitar....., and then there are guitarists"

Anyone can play golf, but anyone ain't Tiger Woods!

Don't you mean "There are people who can play guitar... and then there are people who talk about it".....?

Why do you care

....what he thinks? A lot of people here say, "anyone can rap" and they get a lot of agreement on this page with that opinion.

I figure that's his business, he doesn't have to listen to it (electric guitar), and you don't have to listen to him.

Well, I kind of like the fact that - even though most of us never actually get all that fancy at playing - you can learn to play some chords and lines and do something fun in just a few months. I think that's a plus, not a neg.

Yeah! Well like I said, it changes everytime I say it. Depends on if I wanna be delicate or brutal in my response?

It's possible. He doesn't live directly above me, I do know that, but he may live on the back side of the building. I don't really think he would've known who I was from just coming out my door..I mean, he didn't see me or anything.

And why do I care?

Because he was choosing ignorant words to make remarks about something I'm passionate about, and something (I'd say) he knows nothing about. Nothing irritates me more than people criticizing something they know nothing about. Personally, I would've been fine not hearing it, and I honestly don't care to hear his opinions to make remarks about them. But I OVERHEARD it. I didn't go up and ASK his opinion.

those who can't will always slag those who can.

put out a contract on him

give someone 50 bucks to break his legs, that'll show him (just joking... no flames please)

That guy is so dumb I'm surprised he knows how to answer a cell-phone.

When I was younger and playing in college coffeehouses, one of the really top-notch local guitarists said this: "Anyone can learn to play the guitar in a couple hours' time. But you can spend a lifetime playing and never master the instrument."
