Is it going to take pitchforks and torches...
...to get Emmylou Harris inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame? Kudos to Harold Bradley, George Strait and Sonny James but c'mon now.

Apparently so, Reno. She's never gotten the respect she deserves before, why would it start now? I'm grabbin' my pitchfork!
Aside: Ever notice how many great musicians have played in her band over the years?

The hall hasn't been kind to women that's for sure. And you're right preacher think of all the musicians and songwriters that have great careers today due in part to their association with Emmylou.

count me in for two torches and a case of grenades. Emmylou kept the real-country flame burning during the great famine.

I couldn't agree more! Why in the holy heck is she not in there?!
I'm in love with the Country Music Hall of Fame, I think it's FANTASTIC, but I can't understand why she isn't in. She's not only a crazy talent herself but like you guys said, she's great at recognizin' other talent - her bands have been nothing short of amazing, you ain't kiddin'! Songwriter...musician...singer...she should be in there already and I do believe that's a dang fact. ...and I agree with the Bob Ross givin' ya the creeps comment, Moonshiner. *shudder*

i love emmy lou. i prefer her singing duets with someone else though. i think she tends to go off on a warbly one when she's singing on her own.
my favourite things she's doen are with the band (evangeline), ryan adams (oh my sweet carolina off heartbreaker) and further along with some bloke called hayseed. oh and everything with gram of course. beautiful voice. beautiful person! i don't really know about the country music hall of fame (i don't really know what it is!) but yeah i think she's definitely owed some respect somehow! to be honest i think most people who know good music know this and any ceremony thing shouldn't really matter all that much. al.

Country Music Hall of Fame
It's a joke. It's more about playing ball than music. Look how long it took to for them to admit Buck Owens. I'd only get torches and pitchforks if we could burn it down.

Well, her first records were done in California, but she's lived and worked in Gnashville for a whole lotta years now...
Cheers, Tim

Pitchforks, torches and Boris Karloff...dang...just listen to Luxury Liner or Blue Kentuck Girl, or...well, you get the idea...what a fantastic talent. She certainly has the years to back it up, too, more than Strait for that matter. (Not that George isn't well qualified also). But the CMA for some reason likes to induct 2 or 3 every year and they ought to be inducting 6 or 8. I guess it's the "exclusivity factor". Emmylou has also done a great amount of work FOR the CMA...she should definitely be there.

So I'm tring to chill a bit with the happy little trees and clouds. Seriously though, about the Hall of Fame and Emmylou I'd like to get a petition going or something. Aside from her talents and helping so many musicians and songwriters she played a big part getting the Opry back in the Ryman Theater.
