What piece of gear couldn't you do without?
Okay then, I'm sure some of us read the "Guitarworld" mag and read the question list to well known players about what they do before going on stage, a break down of their gear, their preferred guitar and their "Secret weapon"
"Secret weapon" in this case is the one piece of kit they couldn't do without. So let's all reveal our "secret weapons" Mine is my Boss OD 2 "Turbo overdrive" My pedal board has seen many changes over the years but one pedal that has always been there since I bought it new during my teens is that trusty yellow Boss of mine. For some reason I can't beat the tone I get from Using that Boss pedal in conjuction with my Peavey Classic amp, regardless of what guitar I use, I know it'll sound good.

I recently picked up a Barber 3-knob "Barb EQ" pedal. I love that thing. I gives a nice sparkle to country and beautiful lows for slow jazz. That thing's going to be on my board a LONG time.

Besides all the guitars, cords and amps I don't really have any effects I consistently use or rely on, not even an old standby OD pedal. I do use a Boss SD-1 occasionally but it's put away more often than not. Occasionally if my picking hand middle finger nail breaks I'll use a banjo finger pick on that finger. I have a very basic setup, no magic black boxes or looped guitar riffs or anything like that.
I guess there is one thing that I absolutely have to have before going on stage. As disgusting as some might think it is I have to have a dip of Skoal chewing tobacco. That is my crutch, no jokes intended I know it's all psychological but it helps calm me down and relaxes me. |

Although I have a favorite guitar and a couple of amps/cabs that really give me the tone I want, I don't feel that there's some "magic" piece of equipment that I couldn't do without. I would be heartbroken if my #1 Tele got stolen or lost in a fire, but I'm sure I could build another that was just as good.
I'd be really upset if someone stole my Peavey 5150 combo or my "clean" Bravo because I've put in quite a bit of tweaking time on those to get 'em just right. However, I could replace the 5150 pretty easily and I have two other Peavey Bravos. On the other hand, Peavey no longer makes the Classic 412ES cab that's my favorite, so I'd have a pretty hard time finding replacements if I lost my two. |

I hate to say it cause there's a little round one mounted right on the guitar, but a volume pedal.

I never leave home with my SD-1, even though I don't always use it, it IS in the case, just for comfort...
actually bought a spare some time ago, the "old" (1983?84) is starting to act up (on/off switch is not always responding) apart from that, I'd have to say guitar & amp, oh, and a strap, DON'T forget a strap, unless you want to be sitting through the gig |

power supply on my pedalboard went out last night and i realized once again that if you have a guitar, amp and cord, you're good to go.

Besides the guitar, cord, amp, tuner, towel, flashlight, duct tape, pick, sheep, fresh little candies, dunlop slide, and pointy-toed boots, it would have to be my Barber Tone Press. Best stomp box compressor ever.

Hands down the good old reliable Aleais HR 16B drum machine. For decades I played with no drums tracks. Then this baby came along and rocked my world.
I know it's rather primitive, but, so am I. |

The only thing I can't stand to be without is an old Fender tube amp(anything from the 40's through the 70's).

always the first thing in the bag. totally essential. after that it'd be a TS9 or any half decent overdrive pedal.
