Question for Fuzzy - "getus"?

Hey Fuzzy - I've seen you use the term "getus", I believe to mean money. Where does that term come from, and how do you pronounce it? Is it an acronym, or a Fuzzy-ism, or what?

    Hey Fuzzy -

I've heard "getus" used all my Texas-life. Most folks do mean money when they say it. But sometimes the use it to mean "courage" or "gumption" or even "will-power".

My grandpa says it this way sometimes - "I need to cut the grass, but I ain't got the getus." He means that he's too comfortable sitting in his chair watching TV in the air-condition. :)

My grandma still warshes her clothes, then rinches them out.

Well Fuzzy, I'll have to remember to refrain from using the word "pup" for pickup in the future. I never even used that word until I got on this board. I guess I'm just too lazy to type "pickup".

Fuzzy. I don't feel like a spanked pup. I was really just teasing you a bit. I should of made that plain. Now that I think of it, a pup is dog not a guitar pickup. Pup does sound kinda dumb. From now on it's pickup not pup. As always, it's fun to be on the TDP.

Then, we drove th' Kuh-mare over yonder to that liddle ol' Eye-talian rest'ront, and we et some of that spasketti they got. (That wuz some kinda good marijuana sauce on 'at spasketti, now! Rite good!) Dreckly after 'at, we went up to the dayree-dip, and got uh ice cream coam. We wuz still feelin a mite haller, even after that spasketti an' 'at coam, so we got us uh bar-bee-Q sammich with uh order of onion rangs an' uh CoCola...you know--a sodie...a coldrank. Then the missus an' me went home 'cause we wuz plum give-out...you know--tard.

Sheeyut-far! Me an' th' ol' lady'll learn y'all how to have some fun, now!

Joel and TheGoodTexan, that is hilarious. I know people who talk "li kat" so it really hits home with me. It's just some good natured fun. I can't even count the times I've heard CoCola in my life. I've heard all those expressions and pronunciations and you are right on target. "Kuh-mare" (with the small block and the Cragers) is just priceless.
