Suck it up and play......

Clinton Portis gets hurt, a couple other big $$$ players get hurt and now they want to cut the pre-season games to 2 or less. Not the NFL, just a few players. Geez, here in Pittsburgh it's hard to get regular season tickets for a game so pre season at least gives me the oppertunity to take my son and see our team, granted at a rediculos price, but yet cheaper than the regular season. Coaches need to see their new drafties and how and if they fit into the system. I just think that if your making millions of dollars a year...quit your whining, injuries happen. Maybe if you were like Jerry Rice and kept in shape all year long you wouldn't have had an injury. I guess the Redskins are done for the year. So much for the "team" concept. A team shouldn't be relying on one player. In a fans viewpoint...I want to see the pre-season games to get an idea of each teams streangth...don't you? And although it don't count, the players are playing to win and impress the coaching staff.

As much as I love football (heck, just about every professional sport suffers from the same afflictions), the preseason is too long and the regular season is too long. It's all about money.

When you consider that the average professional football player's career lasts only a little over 4 years, and that many players always play hurt, to some degree, I think it's a valid complaint.

Then again, I don't hear anyone offering to give back any of the money, in order to shorten their "misery".

i think a couple of mil per year would go a long way in soothing my pain. but my conscience wouldn't let me sit on the sidelines if it was just a nick -- if you can't play with a little pain, you don't belong in the NFL! (excluding major injuries, of course.)

a lot of times, reserves step up to stardom when a star goes down -- that's what makes a team.

Sorry, but I think they should do away with preseason games and just have practice until the real season starts. That's what they have all those high paid coaches for- to evaluate the players before the season starts.

There used to be

Six pre-season games and 14 regular season games. Two of the pre-season games became regular season games when the season went to 16 games. The owners needed the additional revenue to cover costs

The first couple of pre season games really stink they are bad football. Generally the first couple of games of the season aren't so hot either by about week 4 through week 7 the games get good, the weather is still decent and the injuries haven't reduced teams to a shadow of what their fans had dreamed of.

Football is all about injuries and every game someone loses a season or a career, doesn't matter weather we call it pre-season, regular season or playoffs.

I'm a big Giants fan and the injury bug is already hitting us. Its just the nature of the game.

Huuuuuuggggeeee Giants fan here. Oh and Did I say Huge??!!?? I wouldn't mind seeing them cut down to 2 preseason games. Hopefully Sinorice is cleared to come back soon... I'm looking forward to finally seeing Arrington on the field in Blue tomorrow night... and we better get a good showing from our defensive line tomorrow!

It never ceases to amaze me how many players that don't stay in shape in their off season. Like if I was getting paid millions of $$, I would want to stay in tip top shape so I would be able to perform at my best. Baseball players seem to be the worst of the lot. How many pictchers come to camp over weight and then have some shoulder problem.

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL..... I know I am. We've got a new coach and Reggie Bush. What New Orleans needs besides 6 billion dollars to rebuild the place, is for the Saints to have a winning season.
