Little lady's big day....(1st day of school)

Well, a defining moment in fatherhood happened today. My little princess started kindergarden! I'm so excited to see her begin to get her own personality and become her own little person, but part of me is sad and still sees her laying on my arm with a bottle in her mouth, about to fall asleep.

Any others with babies startin' school this year????

Yes... My daughter

Starts kindergarten in a few weeks. She has been in daycare/pre-k, so she is accustomed to going & doing school work. Most days now she just skips ahead and runs off to her class without me.

I kind of miss those days when she would fall asleep on my chest. No matter how bad a day I ever had, having her fall asleep in my arms was a great way to make everything "OK".

But, alas, they grow up. As indeed they should. We grew up. It is the way of things.

Yep, little Jessi has been in daycare, etc., but I guess going to orientation last night and seeing her in the same school with all the other grades and the uniforms, backpack, HOMEWORK, etc. seemed different. I'm sure some of it is because I don't see her everyday.

And you're right, it's all the way of things. The comfort that was given by a sleeping child is now given when I go to pick her up and she screams "DAAAAAADYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!" while running and jumping up for me to catch her. Nothin' like it in the world!

seems like only yesterday.....

seems like only yesterday when mine was that little. my daughter will be a high school freshman when school begins here next week (my son starts his senior year). enjoy the early years. hope your's gets a great teacher.

sounds like your daughter is "daddy's girl"! mine has had me wrapped around her little finger since day one. even as a teenager today, she's the one who shouts out: "daddy's home!" whenever i get in every evening from work. ain't nothing else like it in the whole world!

also: remember all those classes you had in school and moaned to yourself "when will i ever use this in real life"....well the reason you learn that stuff is so you can help your kids when they have to take those courses.
