Mbox???
There's an Mbox for sale locally for $125. Is this a good product? Good price?
I've got a new Mac (Intel) and am anxious to use Garageband to sketch out song ideas on guitar and vocal. Any other suggestions appreciated. Thank you.

mbox and gb
Hmm Apple even sells it.. Don't know where you heard that I've used an mbox with GB since GB was released... I think I even tested GB with an mbox...
As Fuzzy would say, "they can say anything on that ol'intermess." As for buying a rev 1 mbox.. for 125 you can get the edirol which is a better device or the firewire solo.. also a better device.. the mbox was amazing for its time, but just about every other box has passed it imo. I would buy new at the same price.... firewire would generally be a better choice because of latency issues that you may find annoying at first. the original mboxes had lots of latency... the newer devices, in the same price range are better and implement usb better. If you don't need the pro tools le... buy something else. here is a link that will tell you what you'll need to know (I don't think you have to do this now, but here it is anyway) http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93725

My hazy recollection was that you had to add GB as a recognized app in one of the control panels. Generally though, if you've got an Mbox you've got ProTools LE. Currently I've been using the Mbox for all my other audio on the Mac (iTunes, DVD player, etc) but at this point I'd lost interest in getting GB to work with it. If you've got an explicit how-to you could post, that'd be great.

I linked it above.... it just requires telling core audio that it is supported... I think the list was automatically added in 10.4.x but can't verify where I am today. Lemme know if it still gives you fits, I'll fire one up and write up some directions.
