Funniest Solo/Riff

What is the funniest solo or song riff you've heard? for riff, I'd go with Made in Japan--> buck owens and for solo I'd go with skunk baxter's "my old school" solo... it makes me laugh (in awe) but it is funny too... demonstrating the irony I think Fagen and Becker were looking for...

Any other songs out there that have funny riffs or solos....??

Listen to the "solo" on Dr. Hook's "Cover of the Rolling
Stone" - guitar parody at its most hilarious !

I bought a Dr. Hook collection CD recently, but I don't remember if I kept it by now. It had "Cover of the Rolling Stone", "Sylvia's Mother", and all sorts of other songs like that.

Maybe not the funniest, but certainly one of the most demented guitar solos I can recall is from Alice Cooper's original band, on the album "Love It To Death", the solo on "Ballad of Dwight Fry". But it wasn't being played on a Tele.

Elvis Costello's "I Want You" off of Blood and Chocholate. I crack up when I hear it.

Also, Zappa solos tend to release endorphans in me.

Big Al Anderson on NRBQ's version of People. Actually not much of a solo but typical NRBQ mahem.

I don't know about slapstick funny, but Jeff's Boogie when Beck was in the Yardbirds has a definite sense of humor all through it.

The solo in "High Class in Borrowed Shoes" by Max Webster is pretty funny, IMO.

I also like the kazoo licks on Hendrix's "Crosstown Traffic".

Speaking of Zappa...
I head a live bootleg of him and his band doing Stairway To Heaven. With Frank's reputation as a soloist I was curious what he'd do to the solo.

He had the horn section play the Jimmy Page solo note for note.

Any Malmsteen solo!

Any solo by Malmsteen, but especially his solo on his cover 'Manic Depression'. Classic (and not even intentionally funny)

Disclaimer: Before I get flamed I fully respect anyone's right to like Malmsteen's playing but I don't.
I'm just saying!

Just about every guitar note/chord/sound on Adrian Belew's song, "Twang Bar King," makes me laugh out loud. I think Adrian has the most clever and humorous style of any guitarist I can think of.

The anti-solo!

Neil Young's extended 1-note solo in Cinnamon Girl was always hilarious to me. It's like Neil's telling a inside joke, and I get it!

But that whole song grooves heavy. Would love to hear a newer, quality, heavy rock band cover that in a dropped grindy sort of tuning. I hesitate to offer a suggestion, cause anyone that I do will get a, "You call that quality?" sort of reaction.

Albert Collins' playing on "Too many dirty dishes" when he makes his tele sound like water running out of the tap and scrubbing dishes.

played some very amusing (though scary) solos.

From what I've read, Phish covered "Cinammon Girl" many times in concert; indeed, I'd venture a guess and say they played a high-quality version. I think maybe King's X has covered "CG," too--and you know if they played it it would certainly be überheavy and dripping with quality.

I've always liked Neil's one-note solo. To me, it's one of many facets that makes "Cinnamon Girl" a superb tune.

Los Lobos did a killer version of Cinnamon Girl the time I saw them.

Hidalgo soloed on some tiny, ukulele-sized instrument during one of their more trad-sounding numbers. His solo dropped my jaw and cracked me up.

I always get a kick out of

Danny Gattons version of "Sweet Georgia Brown" on Untouchable. Not funny per se, but I just smile at how he notches it up not once not twice, but three times. Seems tongue in cheek!

Also "Albert Collins' playing on "Too many dirty dishes" when he makes his tele sound like water running out of the tap and scrubbing dishes." - Absolutely!
