I'm officially married (wedding review)
It's official. The wedding went, surprisingly, smooth. I didn't expect it to go as well as it did.
We couldn't get into the building to decorate until 4pm.....the wedding was at 6pm. The person who was meeting us, to let us in, didn't show up until almost 5. We got the room decorated, the cake set up, the music ready, and changed for the wedding......all in about an hour. Not bad. I wasn't nervous at all about the ceremony. The music tracks (and where they belonged) along with the song I was to sing were a different story. I was a nervous wreck about those. The Groom's Cake was done with a scaled down version of my Buck Owens inspired Tele. 8) Onto the cermony...... Regina followed her bridesmaid and maid of honor down the aisle, not to the traditional wedding march but to....... .....the organ intro to Mr. Crowley by Ozzy Osbourne. When it came to the point that I was to say "I do", my brother (a groomsman) was right on time by playing his ringtone of the Jeopardy theme into a nearby microphone. (yes, I was in on it) The preacher pronounced us man and wife and said "Ladies and gentlemen I present to you, Mr. and Mrs. Joel Smith". At that instant the voice of Larry The Cable Guy came through the p.a. with a resounding "Git-r-done", that was immediately followed by "Start Me Up" by The Rolling Stones. Our song choice for the bride and groom's dance was "In My Life" by The Beatles. The bridal party danced to "Inside Your Heaven" by Bo Bice. Regina told me "oh, you are in so much trouble" when it was time to remove her garter for the garter toss. Apparently, when I reached under her dress to remove the garter......I somehow removed a pair of blue lace panties that I had tucked in my sleeve. (she wasn't really mad, but boy did her face turn red) That was the good stuff. I have to say, we were both pretty dis-heartened by the attendance. There were 37 people there out of almost 200 that said they were coming. We even had calls as late as 2pm from people confirming their attendance. They didn't show. I reckon, in the big picture, in really doesn't matter. I'm still married to the woman I love. Plus, she's married to great guy. Now, it's off to do the honeymoon yardwork. I've got to work on the deck and cut a couple of tree's down that are threatening the pool. Joel

Congratulations! Sounds like a grand time and those who made it had a lot of fun. I wish you and your new bride all of the best of a long and happy life together. Thank you for the review and now get out there and pay attention to that new wife of yours.
Warm regards, Rob |

Congratulations Joel !!
Very gald to hear things went well and fun was had by all. And using "In My Life" was a very good pick for a grooms dance tune. Pulling out panties instead of the garter, perfect ! My glass held up high to you and your new wife, congratulations..

Thanks y'all.
After re-reading my post earlier, I feel that I need to clarify something regarding people that didn't make it. We both had a lot of friends that we were hoping could make it. We understand that may not have been possible for all of them. However, there were family members that live less than 10 mins. away from where the wedding was but couldn't seem to make it. That's what was the most dis-heartening. After reading the original post, I thought it might have come across as whining (or possibly bitter). It wasn't meant that way. Thanks again for all the well wishes. Joel (and Regina)

Thanks y'all, very much.
trag -- We're looking at coming up that way for the week of July 4th. Maybe I'll bring my new Blue Floral Horror with me. 8) Once again y'all. I apologize if my post came across as whining. It was an emotional day for me for one really big reason. Regina, needless to say, wanted her dad to "give her away". Unfortunately, her dad was killed in a car accident a few years back. I felt pretty helpless holding her as she cried and said "I would give anything to have my daddy here". When the disappointment from family members was coupled with that........well, I needed to get some of the load off. Now, it's all off. I was able to come here and make my post and you, my TDPRI friends, didn't "blast" me for "whining, b****ing, or moaning" about things. Once again, thanks to all of you for your well wishes. Joel

Hey Joel!
I didn't think you were being whiny - just stating the facts. May the joy of the occasion cancel out whatever disappointments may arise in the midst of it all. I'm so sorry about Regina's father, and I just know that he's looking down and smiling. His daughter is in good hands! I'll be looking for you in July! All the best to you both!

Congratulations!!!!
I and my lovely wife got married in December..
It's the greatest thing. All the best to you. And about the guests, Even if nobody would have showed up, you and your love would still have been there together. So forget the bad things and remember the good things. All the best to you both from Televiking

Congratulations Joel!!
I hope you have many happy years of wedded bliss!
On a side note, you guys seem crazy enough without the alcohol!! Imagine what it would have been like if that was added! You and your bride sound like a fun couple. Good luck! :D |

Thanks y'all
We both appreciate the well wishes. My only regret about the wedding is that I was, either, "off my game" from being rushed, or that I was nervous. I don't know which it is.
I had planned (when it came time for me to sing the song I chose) to step up to the mic, state that "I thought long and hard to come up with a song that tells how I really feel about Regina and the fact that we're here today to be joined as husband and wife", strum an A chord at the 5th fret, then belt out "It takes a whole lotta liquor to like her, but when I'm liquored up I like her just fine". But alas.........nerves, or whatever it was, got the better of me and I completely forgot that part and simply did the song I had planned. Joel
