anyone heard of the golden ratio?

does it apply to guitar shapes too?

ugly, it just doesnt look right

the golden ratio = 1.61803399

Or 1:1.61803399, put another way; whatever length one dimension is, multiplying it by 1.61803399 gives you a dimension at 90 degrees to it.

The fingerboard, in between the fourth and fifth frets on my Ibanez (which happened to be handy so I measured it), comes close.

I'm 47, so the ratio should be:

20% Bonds
40% Stocks
5% Cash holdings
35% Guitars & amps

Right?

Supposedly the famous violin maker Stradivarius used the golden ratio to determine the placement of the f-holes on his insturment.

myth busting seems the order of the day on the TDPRI and there are few things that have more mythmaking involved in it than the fibonnacci series and the golden ratio.

a handful of modern pieces, prolly Satie, maybe (or not) Bartok, etc. maybe Debussy...

now eather the LP is shaped in PHI or near PHI proportions i dunno... and the whole depated about the inherent pleasing properties of PHI is still really open... again the above book mentions the studies that have been done on both sides of the issue.
