Tal Farlow and Lenny Breau together on youtube

Two of my favourite jazz guitarists chatting and playing a short ditty together. PTL!

Ah Lenny Breau, he's the guy who invented the solid Body seven string guitar, no matter what you might have heard, it wasn't Uli Jon Roth or Steve Vai, it was Lenny Breau

Look closely at his guitar, it has a wider neck than Tal Farlow's, you can clearly make out that it's a seven string.

Van Eps played archtop semie accoustic guitars, never solid bodies.

I can hear the videographer say,
"Hey you two, why don't you jam out on the porch? The light's better outside."

Lenny Breau

Lenny was a good friend of mine. He was born in the same town I live in now. I remember when lenny had the 7 string solid body made. He brought it over to my house and showed it to me and I was blown away. He had just released "Standard Brands" with Chet Atkins. Great album. Tragic story about Lenny. I recently got a copy of the documentary his daughter made about his life. I gotta tell you I broke down when I heard him talking and saw him on the tele-vision. It brought back a lot of memories some good some bad. I sure do miss him. He was probably the most humble guitarist I have ever met. He would stop in a music store and watch a teenager hack on a guitar and politly ask him "Would you like me to show you a couple licks?"
