Just Got this Burns Steer

I bought this Burns Steer off an Airman who was about to be deployed and needed to sell. I had never seen one of these before. When he called, I had about 30 minutes to go online and figure out how much I would pay. When I saw what it looked like, I fell in love with it. I'd never seen anything like it. When I played it....oooh. I'm very impressed with the quality and sound. It's very versatile. Anybody out there have any experience with one of these? Would love to hear your comments.

I've got one too!

A lot of people question my sanity, but I think the Burns Steer is one of the coolest looking guitars around. I love the unique look, and it really is an incredibly versatile guitar. I replaced the neck pickup with one of Steven Kerstings T-90s and it just rocks. It will twang with the best of them and has a great humbucking sound with the coil tapped bridge pickup. I got mine on a closeout deal from Musician's Friend. Funny thing is, I still always find myself reaching for my Tele first. It does make a really nice backup though.

I've always wanted a Burns - Brian May, but I fear the neck would be just too massive.

I never really got a feel for what they're worth. I paid $400 for it and got a Yamaha amp thrown in w/ it plus the HS Case. There's not much info on them on the internet. I understand Musician's Friend started unloading them when Burns USA closed up. There's one on Ebay now w/ an $899 starting bid price. It's got no takers currently.

I don't know about the Brian May, but the Steers neck has a Tele feel. No where near being thick or massive. It's definitely smaller than a Gibson neck.

From what I've read Brian May had massive hands and hence the neck was super wide.

21 years when I wrote this song
I'm 22 now but won't be for long
People ask when I will grow up to be a man
but girls around here are already pushing prams

From memory,, but I like those guitars, check out some Billy Bragg, Burns Steer through a JC120 or Red Knob Twin..IT CUTS, and it isn't subtle.
