RIP Buddy Holly
The day the music died 2/3/1959.
Can't help but wonder where he'd be today. Tremendous loss. Cheers, Bob

One of the first strat players.
Can't believe how fresh his music still sounds today. Norm Petty was an excellent engineer. Buddy Holly Website jamie |

I have to agree with all the sentiments. Yesterday I watched a video that I recorded in 1988 (!!) of a Buddy tribute done in Austin. Some amazing performers on it - The Crickets, Joe Ely w/ David Grissom, Brian Setzer, Buddy Knox, Duane Eddy, Carl Perkins, John Fogerty, Don McLean and many others. There were reminiscings with his mom, his wife and his brothers, as well as Waylon Jennings interspersed throughout. A great show, although my video is quite old and somewhat grainy (pre-cable). Still, the music came through - the Crickets (w/Gordon Payne on guitar & vocals) were plain outstanding.
Ironically I was thinking of how many of the featured people on that program are now deceased as well. Fortunately the music all survives! |

Peggy Sue on The Ed Sullivan Show Video
The interview with Ed is great. Dig the vocal mic around the neck for Tee-Vee. Jerry Allison Rocks, too.

There's a great interview with Hank Marvin- When he first saw a picture of Buddy's guitar in a magazine, he was convinced it had come from outer space.
He is still correct.
