guitar stores in Kansas City or St Louis?

Hey guys. I am leaving on a road trip for 2 weeks tomorrow.

I have heard there is a Musicians Friend store in Kansas City. Can anyone give me more details?

If you guys can think of any good guitar shops in St Louis or Kansas City could you give me some names? The guy I am going with is planning on doing some buying.

We are also going to Ann Arbor MI.

Hate to you-know-what on your birthday cake but...

St. Louis does not have great music stores - GC has a good selection of pointy guitars and most of the other local shops are Samick City. Fazio's is worth a stop just to play a $2K Vinetto and Music Folk has a lot of high-end acoustics. I did find this page (which seems to be about 5 yrs. out-of-date):

Been years since I've been to most of these places and they didn't impress me then but who knows? Good luck!

Not KC but...

If you get a chance, head over to Lawrence, about 30 miles west of KC. Mass Street Music is on south Massachussetts Street. They have a good selection of electrics, but their acoustic area upstairs is awesome. Lawrence is a funky little town that's a lot of fun. No association, YMMV, etc.

There is also

"E.M. Shorts"
Cant' remember their exact address, but they advertise in several guitar mags. You could also find it on the internet, as well as all the GC's, I imagine.

The Musicans Friend in Kansas City is their clearance center. Alot of shipping damaged guitars, and guitars that are missing parts or electronics not working. You can buy used guitars without the issues cheaper than what they are selling most of the stuff for. Midwestern Musical Co. usually has a few nice vintage pieces. Montain music shoppe is the place to go for vintage and high end acoustic guitars. Of course we have GC and guitar souce here also. If you are going through Lawrence Kansas Mass St. music would be a good place to stop. There are a couple of other music stores on Massachusetts St. as well as alot of good bars and restaurants making it a good stop.

edit: I just saw your post date and when you were leaving sorry I was late.

Heya guys, I am in Chicago now and I am heading for St Louis in a few hours.

Thanks for the tips though far. WHen it comes to buying I am actually looking for dirt cheap 'fixer-upper' kinda stuff. I should have clarified that.

But when it comes to 'just looking', I am definitely going to check out that street in Lawrence when we are there. If there are a few cool things to check out on one street that will be really convenient.

Thanks
