Please help me avoid neck trouble
I have recently purchased a Strat (MIM 50s Classic) on eBay. It will arrive here in Virginia within the next 3 days from New Jersey. The seller, a nice enough fellow, has emailed me to say the he "did the strings a little tight to support the neck during the cold shipment." ...Ouch!
The seller wasn't trying to screw up the guitar. I think he simply didn't know better. Besides, I can't change what's already been done. (I've checked the tracking number, and the guitar has already entered the UPS system) So I'm asking for your help. All I know to do, once the guitar arrives, is to let it sit unopened in its box for a couple hours to allow it to slowly adjust to room temperature. Is there anything else I can do to prevent/limit/reduce damage to the neck? BTW. This is probably Dharma. Back in the 80s I left a buddy's Les Paul Custom in my van while I enjoyed a winter weekend with a young lady. ...you could have shot an arrow with the resulting bow in the neck. Kojack |

I really wouldn't worry about it. Tune to standard and check the relief after it comes back to room temperature before jumping to any conclusions. I bet it needs just a slight tweak, maybe a coupla slight tweaks at most.
