Brad Paisley Video Concept
Opening scene Paisley’s Tour bus is coming to a halt in a cloud of dust and belching steam. Camera pans back to reveal a somewhat agitated Brad Paisley and a couple of his band members, the fiddle player and his bass player exiting the bus and telling the driver they are headed to grab a bit to eat as they head down the street of the little town they have become temporarily stranded in. As they venture down the street they come up on quaint looking Pawn Shop with a few guitars in the window. Cut to interior shot of the Proprietor in coveralls and an old (TDPRI) baseball cap. This guy is obviously not a musician, not with his oversized and tattooed arms, his ham-hock shaped hands and his scruffy Redd beard.
Brad and his entourage begin to fiddle around with some of the used instruments as a young kid in the back of the store is noodling around on an old Strat/Peavy/Albanez copy of a real guitar. The sounds coming from the kid seem to perk up Brad and the other guys and they plug in and begin to play and interact with the song that the kid was trying to play. The tempo and the back and forth interchange picks up speed (think of the Banjo and Guitar dual from Dueling Banjos bit in the Movie with Burt Reynolds) and soon begins the guitar battle to rival the showdown of the Devil and Robert Johnson at the crossroads. As the sounds from the little Pawn Shop begin to filter out into the streets, neighbors, shoppers and other assorted townies (bring in the Hotties) begin to gather around and the dancing begins which of course just encourages the back and forth of the “Kid” and the Nashville “Pro’s”. At this point Brad is burning up the place with his fingerpickin’ prowess and the camera swings back over to see what kind of comeback the kid might have left in him. The response is one furious blast of guitar playing virtuosity that stops everyone in their tracks, but as the camera is aimed at the kid bent over his axe, the camera fades back to reveal that the source of the amazing display of smokin’ guitar pickin’ is not the “Kid”. It is revealed that it is of course the Pawn Shop proprietor, Mr. Redd Volkaert on the old Tele he was tweaking on in the earlier shot. After he finishes his amazing display, he stops what he is doing and casually wipes down the Tele and hangs it up on the display rack as he turns and winks to the “Kid”. The camera fades to Brad as he says, lets get out of here boys, I think I’m going to go back and get a few more lessons from that darn Green Frog. The crowd parts and the Band heads back out the door toward the Tour Bus. The Kid goes back to picking out his version of Smoke on the Water or whatever.
