Anyone here a Dietician......or know one?

My girlfriend wants to change her major, and the career councelor suggested dietetics. I looked up some of the career statistics, but could someone give a personal account of what the job is like? Happy or not?

She's going to have to take anatomy.

Not an easy course to pass the first time. Or the second for that matter.

Okay

I guess I'm a dietition, cause I tell people what to eat. The funny thing is that they never eat what I tell them. They don't like to hear that a balanced diet is a hamburger in each hand. Oh well. I guess I'm not the type you were looking for.

She was going pre-med......so she's had a boat-load of science classes, just deciding what to switch to now.

My sister-in-law is a dietician (with a Masters in public health). I'm going to be seeing her this weekend, and would be happy to ask her any specific questions you have and report back.

By the way, my other sister-in-law is a nurse and my wife is a speech therapist, so they're all in health care fields. I'd be happy to ask them any questions, too.

Let me know what you want me to ask them.

That's 'dietitian' for the REAL ones....

My wife is one. There's lots of different directions your gf can go...
She can work as a counselor to people, to an establishment such as a hospital, school, do research etc. etc.

Califiddler...

She has thought about speech therapy as well.....

I think she just wants to know what a "normal work-day" consists of.

Dietitians can go into different fields, so....
--Which fields are the most popular?
--Which fields pay better?
--How much would a master's degree help out / what can you do with it?

Thanks guys.
