The Eagles have announced the initial concerts for their Big 2013 Tour

One of the last true American Rock n' roll bands that is still standing.

I've already got the Farewell Tour I DVD, and with their insistence on making their concerts sound exactly like the recordings, the only reason to see this show would be to check out which flannel shirts Frey and Henley are wearing this time around.

They call 11 shows over 3 weeks a tour?

Post something positive, and here comes the dark clouds for spoiling

You can thank Henley and Frey for being the dark clouds that did the spoiling.

If I'm coming across as a disgruntled former fan, it's because I'm a disgruntled former fan. Still love the music (especially everything up to and including On The Border), but I just can't get excited about them anymore after learning more about how Henley and Frey run things. Walsh has been with them since 1976, and he's STILL only a sideman in that band, he has no say in things.

I'm sure the cheap seats are still only $120 or so.

That's the reason I won't go see them. They're good, sure, but no way am I dropping that much money on a show.

I'd pay (but not the kind of prices they get today) to see Bernie and Randy, even if Don and Glen were there too!

One of These Nights is one of my Desert Island Discs, no doubt, but I really like all of their albums.

I have deliberately not read Felders' memoir because I already think they treated him $#itty and it will just irk me further.

Joe is one of my favorite Cats in the Universe.

But the reason I will NOT be going to see them is that I feel the Eagles are DIRECTLY and WHOLLY responsible for the insane jump in concert ticket prices in the early/mid '90s. Before "Hell Freezes Over" a good concert cost $18-25. The next year they were $35-50 and up.

I don't wish them ill, but they won't be seeing any more of MY money.

Meh I'm bummed. Just found out today that the Eagles decided not to come to Newfoundland to play the Salmon Festival in Grand Falls. With an audience of only 20,000 and ticket prices at $100 I guess they decided to play it safe and and go to Ottawa instead...yawn. It's their loss.

Kiss cleared a million last year and had a great time in the process. So good in fact that they wanna come back. Who could blame them? It's Newfoundland in July. Only heaven is better.

Anyway most of us here would much rather see AC/DC than those stupid Eagles! Maybe next year.

I read one other older band bio before reading Felder's book, and it corroborates quite a bit of what Felder had to say about things, otherwise it would have been easy to dismiss Felder's account as slanted.

Either way, when they booted Felder I decided that I would be making no more financial contributions to the Henley/Frey empire. The Farewell Tour DVD was a Christmas gift, or else I wouldn't own it. It's a shame, really, because they were one of my favorite bands before that.

Saying it's your personal favorite and you don't care for the rest of their catalog is one thing, but one good song? Puh-leeze.

Now, now... They've lowered some of the keys.

Yeah, any positive feelings I could have had towards them just perished when I read Felder's book.
