There's actually a huge resurgence in striping right now, check out jalopyjournal.com

What he says about sign painters is very true though. Most of the guys I know that hand painted signs have gone to vinyl.

Here are some stripes a retired sign painter named Roger Nelson put on my partscaster. I've got one in progress headed his way.

My second wife was a meber so I went to few meets. If you get a chance to go to one do it.
You might get your car or guitar pinstripped while your there. Or just drink alot and play guitar like I always did.

Definitely getting harder to find good pinstripers. Took me a while to find the guy who striped this one for me.

Good stuff.

A good friend of mine has been a pro pinstriper for a few years. He's known for restoring vintage Lambrettas and Vespas, but does hot and rat rods too.

It truly is an art.

There's a number of good stripers out there.
Remember "Where's Von Dutch?"

In the 60's I saw a sign writer put a pin stripe down the side of a Rolls Royce by just walking down the car and holdinghis brush .it was perfect .They used Valspar enamel in those days .All the trucks we sold came in basic colour or primer and were brush painted all over then sign written .same for all those Team Lotus JPS cars .All hand striped .I met the guy who Did them all .By the way .Only one car was ever gold striped ,the first .All the rest were straw colour .
