Fasten Your Seatbelt, Please. We're Heartbroken in ATL.

Tim Gunther was the self-proclaimed Shuffle King of Atlanta. He couldn't keep him self from giving you a music lesson while he drank his chardonnay and cornered you at a bar, usually the Northside Tavern.

He did play with some of the best, Sean Costello, one of Muddy Water's son's for awhile and of late the Breeze Kings here in Atlanta. I did maybe 50 gigs with Tim on drums. He did have a way with a shuffle and could do this bottom end thing that really made things fun. We've had our ins and outs, Tim did dish some BS, no doubt, still he grew on you, he had a good heart and he loved the music, he was a brother in arms.

Coming home from a gig in Florida, the Breeze Kings and their van were cut off on the interstate around 9:30 Sunday morning and the van rolled twice. Tim was asleep in the back seat, no seatbelt and was ejected out of the van. The rest of the band suffered slight physical injury but Tim was gone.

The whole Atlanta Blues scene is heartbroken to lose one of our own this way. I can't make it to a memorial tonight at Northside Tavern for Tim, I've got to play music,...he'll be in all our thoughts and prayers.

We miss you Tim. God's speed.

Friends, please wear those seatbelts and stay with us.

About Tim,

Hi Stephen. I'm sorry to hear about your friend. It's always a real drag to lose someone from the scene.

I met you a few years ago while on assignment in Atlanta and you gave me a Sean Costello album. I was knocked out by it! I stopped by your house and we played. We met over at that "tweedscape" website where I went by Tele-Bob. It's good to see you here.

Hey There T-Bob! Thanks for the kind words and great to hear from you.

There was a memorial last night for Tim at Northside Tavern and it was packed, 'twas a beautiful thing, I'm sure Tim was smiling.
