Private Insurance adjuster
I had a basement flood back in '96, washer hose let go while we were away for 5 days (yes honey, thats what that washer valve is for AARRRGGHH!).
18" of water in basement, all music gear trashed (tele, 2 vintage amps, taylor acoustic, and most heartbreaking, my buddy's 1918 Gibson A1 mandolin (his deceased grandmother's, which he lent me). Well, long story short, the insuranmce company (a highly rated one) offered $6k. I got a private insurance adjuster, he totallwed up everything, I mean everything, including even a bag of coal we had down there, and we ended up getting $20 cldear, after his 15% commission. Yeah, we had to wait almost 6 months, as insurance companies don't take kindly to private insurance adjusters, but we got it. |

That's ugly.
I'm thankful that my location is essentially flood-proof. Or, it would take a flood of more than Biblical proportions to reach me, I'm hundreds of feet above the level of the Arkansas River. Hate to kick a man while he's down, but maybe this will be an opportunity for him to get out of the mid-1980s. |

Dang. Awful.
I can assure you that my Tele would be one of the things I'd be putting in the survival kit when the big one comes and it's time to bug out.
