The Color of Sound ?

I have a great friend who is a truly gifted songwriter and musician. The other day he asked for some participation on facebook from his friends on what they thought the color of sound was. He used the input to write this really great song...enjoy

Several dozen er.. experiments in the late 60s, 70s showed me the colors of sound varied according to pitch and volume.

I have always thought of the various sounds you can get out of a guitar as "colors." Like phase. Chorus, vibe, wah, crunch, distortion, etc. And of course color plays to mood much like different sounds do.

Wasn't there a song about "The Color of Your Wind" a few years ago?

The Word
Graeme Edge
The Moody Blues

This garden universe vibrates complete
Some, we get a sound so sweet.
Vibrations reach on up to become light
And then through gamma, out of sight.

Between the eyes and ears there lie
The sounds of colour and the light of a sigh.
And to hear the sun, what a thing to believe
But it's all around if we could but perceive.

To know ultraviolet, infrared and X-rays,
Beauty to find in so many ways.
Two notes of the chord, that's our full scope
But to reach the chord is our life's hope,
And to name the chord is important to some.
So they give it a word, and the word is...

Vowels, by Arthur Rimbaud

Black A, white E, red I, green U, blue O - vowels,
Some day I will open your silent pregnancies:
A, black belt, hairy with burst flies,
Bumbling and buzzing over stinking cruelties,

Pits of night; E, candour of sand pavilions,
High glacial spears, white kings, trembling Queen
Anne's lace;
I, bloody spittle, laughter dribbling from a face
In wild denial or in anger, vermilions;

U,…divine movement of viridian seas,
Peace of pastures animal-strewn, peace of calm lines
Drawn on foreheads worn with heavy alchemies;

O, supreme Trumpet, harsh with strange stridencies,
Silences traced in angels and astral designs:
O…Omega…the violet light of His Eyes!

I had a friend that had synaesthesia, he couldn't listen to music if he didn't like the colors.
