Saw my first snake of 2013
Just a little bitty one...about 3 inches long. I guess it must of just hatched. Spring is on the way.

We did too
Ours was in the driveway and escaped into an opening on the edge of the garage door. This was a 18" long Green garden or garter snake. Kinda like this one.

They are on a rampage here in South Florida. They are damaging the eco system so Fish& Game host snake grabbing contests to catch them. Huge Boa constrictors. I don't play with that stuff. And I watch my dogs when I'm outside like a hawk.

No, I don't fear snakes, I hate snakes, here in California they are everywhere in the unimproved areas, and a lot of them are rattle snakes. If you ever saw someone who's survived a rattle snake bite, you might learn to hate 'em too.
When I was a lad in Alabama, we had 'em worse than here in California, they were in the water, on land, in the woodpile, and sometimes in the house. When you pull out a drawer, and a snake is in it, well, not the way to start the day. I learned to hate 'em at an early age.

You are 100% right They also believe that the problem starts with people who bought these snakes, no longer wanted them and turn them loose. They thrive down here and reproduce .Why someone could even own a snake as a "pet" is beyond my thinking.

It's the year of the Snake in the Chinese Lunar Calender. Chinese New Year was just last week. 1/6th of the world was/are having a feast and festivals. It's still going on at some parts.
Happy New Year of the Snake!

Sorry, your still dating cheques to 2004? Get with the programme! I think they have apps for that.

Unfortunately, most reptiles are being depleted throughout the world.
The lizards, turtles, frogs and snakes. Florida non-native species is another stupid human issue.
