Tiger wins a tournament, but...
...it wasn't a major.
A year or so ago there was a thread floating around, and I and some others predicted he'd never win another major. That's still my position. What do you think?

I think he will. To be honest, I haven't watched him play in awhile and I don't keep up with stats, etc. like I used to. But I truly believe that competitive fire is there somewhere. He isn't done yet. Best golfer ever.

I think he does..... his health, not his game, will be the determining factor.
If he plays another 10 years and plays in all of the majors, that's 40 more attempts. I would think at least one more major win is probable.

i personally could not care less. what little i saw of the broadcast became a tiger love fest with the commentators on their knees. i'd rather watch the new players coming up not tiger.
and would somebody please shoot that moron the constantly screams, "get in the hole" on every freaking shot? |

I wouldnt count any chickens yet. He always plays well at Torrey Pines. He's only won like 2 or 3 tournaments, no majors, over the last 3 or 4 years.
He's got a lot of ground to make up to get anywhere near what he used to be. The competion of the whole field has gotten tougher. |

I can see him winning 1, maybe 2 more. Whereas I used to think it was a foregone conclusion that he would catch and surpass Jack Nicklaus for career major wins, I don't think that's the case anymore. I don't think he'll catch him.

Look at the greatest players in history and the time frames where they won the most tournaments...mid to late thirties. Nicklaus, Palmer, Trevino, Watson, Singh, Mickelson. Tiger is far from done. As evidenced by this week. Yes the competition is more balanced these days, everybody hits it a mile, but when Tiger is as his best, he's still better than everybody else.
It will be interesting to see if a rivalry develops between Tiger and Rory. Rory has all the shots and his success so far is not a fluke. I think he's the only player I've seen in recent years that has a chance to have a career that can challenge Tiger's numbers. Overall, Tiger has just been the most consistent golfer since he's turned pro. . |

Tiger will win another major within 2 years. He wins 27% of the events he enters. He needs to find a driver/swing that he can hit fairways with, that is is major weakness now.

Palmer won his last Major at age 34. Trevino won one Major after age 34. Watson won his last Major at age 34. Nick Faldo won two Majors after age 34. Tiger will turn 38 this year and he has a history of injury. I won't say he can't win a couple of more Majors but all evidence says his best golf is behind him. Jack Nicklaus was able to win four Majors after the age of 37, but he never practiced as much and beat his body up as much as Tiger. |

He really had it all...
High paying endorsers Lots of adoring fans A bright future Then...he got married...and that was the beginning of the end. If only he had stayed a bachelor...he very well may have 20 majors by now. JMO. |

I agree. I thought all along, if only he never got married. Then his entire life wouldn't have taken a nose dive.

Or - maybe if he wasn't out banging waitresses and went home to his wife do ya think things would have turned out differently also ? Or was it the wife's fault ? Ya know - at this point she doesn't care ! Still a doosh, always was, always will be...

I have never understood how they can compare stats from 20 or 30 years ago with todays numbers being as the clubs are nothing like they used to be.I always seem to watch when Tiger was playing but the last few years it was nice to see some other guys step up and it looks like Tiger has lost the scare factor.
I also know nothing about golf but I have watched caddyshack plenty of times |

Didn't know it was permissible to say on this forum. I was a caddie for 3 years at a huge country club. Even the big D-O-U-C-H-E 's there weren't as bad as Tiger. Hate the playa not the game...
