Just got a Cool gig- Los Angeles
http://www.musicianspicnic.org/
Just found out we have been added to play at the Musicians Picnic in Los Angeles on the main stage. I am really excited about this one. Big crowd ,Big Stage and for a great cause. It is a fundraiser for MAP and MusiCares. My band, "Slavin David",gets to go on 1 or 2 slots before the allstar jam so the crowd should be full by then. With admission price you get free BBQ's, Hotdogs, drinks..and lots of activities so it is a good deal for the price. I will be banging on the Verocaster so it won't be easy to miss me....(non-descript guitar player, visually loud guitar). If you live in the LA,CA area check out the website for details.Would love to hear some LA TDPRI's yell at me. |

Too bad I live in Massachusetts
I didn't know that the Catfish Hodge band was still out there playing. I thought Catfish died a number of years back. I had a couple of their albums from the late 60s & early 70s. They were great.
Nice gig and a wonderful lineup of musicians. Spencer Davis, Paul Barrere & Chuck Negron. Don't get a chance to see these guys much, let alone in one afternoon. Good luck with the gig!! Wish I was there. |

Very cool Larry! Congrats. I sure wish I was in the area so I could come check it out and see that wonderful Verocaster!
Sound like a nice event. Have fun, play like the dickens and enjoy! I will look forward to your gig report! |

Did you ever see his band "The Bluesbusters" in the 80s? They kicked serious butt, just a great, great blues band. :-) CS

Thanks Brad,
I will try to snap some photos that day (actually my wife) and let you know how it turns out. The Verocaster now has a TrueTone bridge p/u and Vol & tone only, no switch. It really screams and is so easy to get good tones out of. Lots of fun to play. My good friend who helped get me on the bill is good friends with Catfish so I will definitely check out his show and report back. |

Amazingly Fun
Well I just got back and it was so much fun. We had to follow Catfish Hodge and the English Beat. Both of them were great and the English Beat really rocked the crowd. Made me nervous as heck to follow them, but it was one of those nothing is gonna go wrong kind of days and we had a blast. The absolute highlight for me is that Mike Finnigan (Hendrix,BigBrother,CCNY) got up and jammed with us on our last tune on B-3.......what an amazing B-3 player and wonderful guy....I will always keep that as 1 of my top playing memories. As a capper, my other guitarist Dave got to jam with Spencer Davis & Berry Oakley Jr.......so much fun.........The Verocaster with a single TrueTone bridge pickup and vol & tone only just screamed all day.

La-REEE! La-REEE!
Sorry I missed your show, my friend, we've been gigging and mixing up in the other part of town- you know, EAST of the 405, hee hee. Glad to see you throwin' down somewhere besides Sound Arena so people know what a fiery player you are. Were you using the Overbuilt, or the mini-Marshall?
We will talk soon, mah brutha.....

Jere's Fan Club
Hey Jere,
please put me on the new mailing list so I can come be amazed at your tele prowess again. Can't wait to see your new band. I used the "Marshall Stack" (hee hee 2 1x12's is as big as I stack these days). It is mostly rock stuff we do. Distortion and fuzz and an Esquire......rock recipe..Esquires make great rock & roll guitars. I am such a computer geek, though. I don't know how I managed to double post that last one. |

Hey Joe......
good to hear from you. The bass player is Eddie Marshall, whom you haven't met. He used to play with Dave. Terry is good though, still doing We Five.I'll tell him you asked about him. The old TDPRI jams were a good time!
You digging AZ.??? How is the book business treating you? Larry |

Lovin' It
I love all of Northern Arizona, and Sedona is outright spectacular. The bookstore is doing very well, and the change of life and lifestyle, even better.
But, I do miss choreographing a dozen or so Tele players on stage at the same time, all of whom are claiming that the other guys are playing too loud! |
